Blogger Theme Improvements

I have to admit, I'm impressed with the new blogger templates. These are Contempo, Soho, Emporio, and Notable. As observed, they are now following today's web standards which is using responsive layout. Back then if you would use the old blogger themes, you would be redirected to a mobile site instead, a standard approach to improve website performance back then. But since it is 2017 and most online surfers are using either high solution computers or smartphones, I think it's more applicable to use responsive themes. A problem with these new themes is that some of the gadgets you put in the layout might not work except for the basic built in ones such as profile, Google adsense, archive, etc. Best way as of now to manage the gadgets is via customize theme. But if you still miss the old layout you can always use the classic themes as they are still there in the theme selection As of now I am using the Contempo theme as it is simply a one-column blog. Other themes are ...

I'm Back...again

Yes it's been a while since the last post back in 2014. A lot has happened and I got distracted that I forgot to post updates here in this blog. This blog is supposed to be my personal journal. Despite of having a lot of thoughts at the end of the day, I always forget to write them down. But I hope I can keep posting for the next days as I don't have any other places to put free written blogs. My other website, jeremecausing.com is often used for professional purposes. I'm just worried that blogger didn't seem to change after all these years apart from the new policies. Although I don't think they are going to remove this service since they are also using Blogger like the official AngularJS blog  which surprisingly is even using a default theme. There are a lot of things I'd like to share. Perhaps in a few day's I'll be telling my stories. For not I'd be cleaning some parts of this website for the moment such as the widgets and layout.

Remembering Glenda

Here are some of the damages left by Typhoon Glenda in our area The electric post is scary. I hope there would be action taken on that.

What's up?

Perhaps I owe you an apology for my last post. Well I tried to file my resignation but I can't come to it because I don't have a replacement as of now. We're few in the office. Well I could have easily left but I wouldn't like to leave the previous company damaged as I am the only person capable of doing my task now. Right now I'm just waiting for somebody to replace me. But I guess it's not my time to go for now. And I have to be considerate since they somehow hired me when I was applying a few years back so maybe I should at least return the favor. I just hope I can handle more tasks coming ahead. I'm on a one-man team as of now.

games, books, stories, website .. etc

Hey buddy, It's been a while since I made my last post. I've been a little busy the past days.. Or should I say video games ate a lot of my time. Anyway I'm still reading books or should I say listening to audiobooks. I'm getting hooked up in stories of Lovecraft and all those Cthulhu mysteries. Oh well, they're a bit fun to read. Right now I'm planning to build a website. I've been setting it up on WordPress and I'm having a hard time using it. Or perhaps I can't use wordpress the way I want it like attaching media files, other stuffs and so on. So I though maybe I should build my own website instead though it would be a little challenging. But hey, Imma programmer.. At least this would give me a motivation to study about frameworks.

An Inspiring Video

For those guys who often stay at work late(like me) here is a nice video to watch. Sorry if the title seems kinda cuss but I enjoyed the message and the way it was delivered. I hope it would also inspire you and help make work more productive to you :)

Writing to Earn

One of my sidelines (or I sometimes consider as a hobby) is doing write-ups and earning from them. I don't earn that much since I'm not a full time freelance writer. But somehow it also helps me and I learn a lot from it. My highest source of earning is from squidoo , a site that lets create a page with topic and write anything interesting on that page. If you'd like to see more of the sites I've joined, just visit the Earn Money section just on the menu. At first you will be visited by a adfly site but just skip it.

Noisy Neighborhood

It's midnight and I could hear the neighborhood having a party just a few walks ahead. Here in the Philippines one of the most favorite things people do during a party, aside from drinking, is singing on a karaoke. Although it may seem fun, it would still sound inconsiderate(especially when they sing with a lousy voice), and you can't sleep because of the noise. Voices shouting while an awful (and ugly perhaps) voice is singing. Call the police? Yeah right, they might even laugh at you. Here in the Philippines, we have a little justice problem. Or perhaps the police don't bother complains like these unless it's a serious case like robbery or some crime. Yeah I understand it is fun and I don't want to kill anybody's joy, but they could have rented a karaoke or maybe done it on a bar instead. I mean at least you're not disturbing anybody who is trying to sleep. It may seem expensive but at least it's just a little expense in compared to the food,...

Getting Rid of Clutter/ Adding new stuffs

I've just gotten rid of the blogger toolbar from on of my blog . I just noticed there is an increasing amount of visitors so I decided to remove some clutter like pop-up ads, and the top bar which is only useful for google and blogger users. Still I've added some widgets like that crazy flying twitter bird and an updated wibiya toolbar. I hope it goes well

Where my old articles go..

Whenever an article I post in a website gets removed(mostly because it gets out of date, not anymore visited, or might have come short to the standards of a website), I transfer them to a different location. I created a blog called The Archive corner . It is the archive blog of my old works, since I feel that some information in those write-ups might come in handy someday.

Anything but Recaptcha

Whenever I fill up some forms, I am just one of those who easily get annoyed from Google ReCaptcha. I guess a lot of people also get annoyed from this. Before you can submit, you should be able to identify the two words indicated. Things get worse if you press enter and still you made a wrong guess. Sometimes the text also get a little cryptic like when other symbols (like Greek words or words you don't find in the dictionary appear). It used to be Captcha, guessing only one word until spambots seem to have outsmarted captchas to that's where ReCaptcha was made But despite that I don't like it, I still manage to use it since it helped me block some spam users from signing up and sending comments to my website  with the help of akismet anti-spam plugin. But anyway that's a little guessing game to ensure your safety as well. And I guess it would be annoying if something else should be guessed. Now I'm just kidding about the complex math problem, alt...

Bad Decisions and Regrets

I often get bothered from the decisions I made in the past especially those which seem to be bad. Although I know that I should get over with them since I know I should not live on regrets, I am still bothered because of the current situations I am facing now. Ok so what's that stuff that been bothering me? That's a bit personal matter for me to discuss but since I love you even though I do not know you because you're taking your time in reading this like no other, alright you can have my story. These past days, I am missing some of the things I`ve enjoyed on my previous work. Though difficult and challenging I am still enjoying it since I do it as a team with my college friends and colleagues. Those fun trips. Arguing about some project related solutions, going out to see places, doing overnight projects though stressful yet that was kinda fun, competing on (in a playful matter), learning new things together... Yeah those were the days, These were the things I...

Time to speak up...

Im planning of starting a new podcast site with the help of some resources.   Actually I already have a podcast site here  but I won't be using it anymore. I'll be using a different account and blog when I start doing this. I'd just like to try different things. I also made some drafts for the episodes for the upcoming podcast site, although I'm a bit worried people might not like it. But it will just be like a blog diary so I don't expect much visits since it's just a voice archive. I hope I can continue on this. You can also comment a link to your podcast site.

Stranded

I had a morning. The FX I rode this morning dropped me half-way to my destination which was near Olivarez because of the flood in SM Sucat that caused the heavy traffic. Vehicles hardly budge. Most of them had to take a counter flow which is still under heavy traffic. Only one lane of the other side of the road is being used which mostly are vehicles who counter flowed but It was actually difficult to find a ride to work. Most of the jeepneys and FX were full. But after a few minutes of waiting I got my ride.

Just a note

That was a day. I just bought a new notebook and a set of ballpen (Three different colors). I often lose a ballpen whenever I bring it to the office. As if somebody "eats" it when it gets borrowed. Oh enough of the grotesque thinking. A notebook and 3 HBW ballpens. I don't mind if it has a Name, Grade and Teacher  stuff on the front page just give me something to write on So this notebook is not a diary. Diaries don't contain draft writings and HTML tags. This is just for writing drafts for my blogs. You hear that? I'mma coming back to the writin' world. It seems that my interest to write again just switched. So this is how I blog, I often write it down first on a paper before publishing online. It helps me do some revisions before publishing. I know some people who do this. Actually before blogging, I used to keep things written on my notebook or diary whatever you call it. I also write my drafts on yellow papers. an article draft in yello...

Behind Spectacles - Time for a change

It's been a while since we made our last post. I realized I need to make a few changes on this blog site. First noticeably on our title which was The Jerminator before now changed to behind spectacles.. why the crappy name? We'll discuss that later after a few moments. Other changes also involve removal of ads like infolinks and chitika save for the google adsense bar on the right and opendrive link at the bottom. Added some twitter widget.. the new twitter widget seems pretty cool since you can post tweets on the widget like a guest book. So why the Behind Spectacles thing? When I look at the mirror, all I see is someone with glasses staring at me. It seems that I've been attached to these glasses for a while. I can't see well without it. I remove the glasses, I see a different person. Always trying to conceal himself behind spectacles, pretending to be strong, weak, lonely... Aw come on, not that . Although sometimes I still wonder maybe it's time I c...

The Feb 28 Passenger Jam

One of the stressful commute home was yesterday. This is after some evangelical rally. It was difficult to go home since all of the buses were full..  Had to go to the other street just to wait for a bus. And it also looked dangerous as well since the bus might hit someone with all of the people everywhere. Looks crowded and dangerous I had to stand up in the bus because it was full and the annoying conductor just keeps on letting people in not thinking that the bus might collapse anytme. But it's not that worse compared to my PNR Train nightmare. And I guess Japan is used to crowds like these during rush hour. Japan's crowded subway
